Using a teleprompter on iPhone or Android without installing an app
Updated 20 September 2026 · by Viktor, video creator
Open a browser teleprompter such as teleprompter.inream.com on the phone, allow the camera and microphone, paste your script and record. It works in all major browsers on phone and laptop, nothing is installed, and the finished video goes out through the phone’s share sheet to WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, TikTok or e-mail, or into the camera roll.
Step by step
Open the page, paste the script — it is reflowed into lines of three to five words — and choose how it should move: waiting for your voice, a fixed 60-200 words per minute, or a pace it learns from you. Hit record and read; if you lose your place, one tap steps the script back a line. Then trim, export and share.
Permissions, once
The browser asks for the camera and the microphone the first time. If you refuse by accident, the page cannot reopen the prompt by itself — clear the permission in the browser’s site settings and reload.
Vertical, square or wide
Pick 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, 1:1 for feed posts, 16:9 for lessons and landing pages. The prompter band and the frame change together, so what you see while recording is what the file holds.
What you give up without an app
A web page cannot film inside Instagram or TikTok, run with the screen locked, or take a hardware remote. Everything else — voice-following scrolling, recording, retakes, subtitles, sharing — happens in the browser.
Questions
Is there a free teleprompter without installing an app?
Yes. Inream Teleprompter’s free plan records without limit in the browser; its exports are 720p with a watermark, and Pro removes it.
Can I send the video to WhatsApp right after recording?
Yes, through the phone’s share sheet, along with Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, e-mail or the camera roll.
Does it work on both iPhone and Android?
It works in all major browsers on phone and laptop.
Are subtitles included?
Yes. They are built from your script rather than transcribed, editable before export, and an .srt file comes with the video.
